Eljodii - Experiences: an exhibition of ceramic - "Bole Terra Rosa" - sculptures

“Our sculptures are planned, but, unplanned. When they are planned, then they are executed as planned. Unplanned they change in design and shape with curves and are not precisely followed. This may sound unethical or unaesthetic naïve, but, that is how we began to create our sculptures.

Taking the unplanned shapes and building a form to see that form become something new… you don’t have a prescribed destination, but, getting there is intriguing and unknown. To see how these shapes evolve into a unique form… that is the exciting part. You start on this journey and you don’t know where it is going to take you.
Although, we most of the time start with a sketch, the clay has a mind of its own and the journey will take us elsewhere. It is not that we cannot stick to a plan, but it is the spiritual and emotional journey that takes you on a different path.”
